Lenovo S5 Pro: Cheapest smartphone to come with hardware based face unlock

     Lenovo had been silent for more than a year. Where the other brands are launching their devices back to back to give competition to others, Lenovo has come up now with its S5 Pro in the sub 15k range. Lenovo recently had an event in China where they launched the S5 Pro with quad camera setup. It will compete with the Redmi Note 6 Pro and Realme 2 Pro. While the pricing to specs ratio is quite close, this smartphone will give a headache to most of the OEMs.

Design & display:

     Lenovo S5 Pro will be coming with a unibody metal design and a notched display in the front side. The cameras will be stacked vertically on the back side like the Vivo and Asus phones and also the fingerprint sensor will be near. The display here will be containing a 6.26" Full HD+ IPS LCD panel with 1080x2246 resolution and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The screen to body ratio here will be 83% and 402 PPI pixel density. This smartphone will have one of those modern displays which consumers will love to have in their hands.

Performance:

     This Lenovo device will be coming with one of the most popular processors of 2018, the Snapdragon 636 under the hood. This an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. This will be powered by the Adreno 509 GPU for smooth gaming and UI experience. In the software section, Lenovo S5 Pro will be coming with the Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Lenovo's personal ZUI 5.0 skin on it. Performance wise the phone will be satisfying but the custom UI that Lenovo is providing on their phones can be a little laggy.

Cameras:

      Cameras will be one of the highlights of the phones as we mentioned before, this phone will be coming with a quad camera setup with the front and rear both featuring dual camera setups. The rear side will have a 12 MP (f/1.8) main camera along with a 20 MP (f/2.6) telephoto lens that will support 2x optical zoom. In the front side, there will be a 20 MP main camera with the f/2.2 aperture along with an 8 MP secondary lens. The whole camera module will be powered by AI facilities for portrait mode and scene detection.

Variants and pricing:

      Lenovo S5 Pro will be coming with two variants of 6 GB  ram along with 64 GB and 128 GB storage options. The color variants expected are the black, blue and gold. The pricing will be the key factor here as the Chinese pricing of this product is so much aggressive that it can demolish most of the phones of the segment. The 6/64 GB version is launched at 1298 CNY that is under 14K in Indian currency.  If Lenovo can keep the price like this in India this phone will be a total blunder.

Battery and others:

     Lenovo S5 Pro will have a 3500 maH battery along with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth5.0, USB type c with 15 W fast charging support. The features already look very interesting after looking at the price bracket. But that's not all. The Lenovo S5 Pro will have the IR based face unlock feature in it that'll make it the cheapest phone to give the feature. Before this Poco F1 was the cheapest to provide the feature which was priced at 21k. That's an almost 7k difference between them. This phone will definitely be the best smartphone launching with all the needed specs in it. Hope the pricing of the Indian version remains as same as the Chinese ones.
